It's a Sunshine Day

The tournament, to be held on President's Day Weekend, will be made up of twelve teams (Philadelphia. NY, 2 from DC teams, 2 teams from Atlanta. Jacksonville, Chicago, Houston, Cleveland and Florida Cat 5).
Talking About a Revolution
December 2011, Philadelphia PA: On Saturday, December 3rd, Andre Dionne (left) and Morgan Sampson Jr. (right) were announced as co-captains of the Philadelphia Revolution, the competitive branch of the GPFFL. Dionne and Sampson Jr. will captain the team at the Sunshine Bowl in Fort Lauderdale, the Pride Bowl in Chicago and the Gay Bowl in Denver.
Revs Give It Their All In Houston
October 2012, Houston TX: As the saying goes, "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned". Well, Mother Nature was the poster child for scorned women everywhere before and during Gay Bowl XI in Houston.
Suffering through one of its worst droughts in history, Houston welcomed the Revs and other NGFFL affiliates for the league's biggest tournament. After two days of play in which many tabbed as "The Dust Bowl", Mother Nature took a page from The Weather Girls and had it start raining men...well, ok it was just rain... a lot of it! The monsoon-like rain caused the cancellation of the final day of play which was to include the playoffs and championship game.
Despite having a multitude of injuries which prevented it from sending a full sqaud, the Revolution, getting help from a player each from Chicago and Phoenix, suffered tough losses to D.c, Denver and Boston. When all was said and done, they returned to the City of Brotherly Love with a 1-4 record.
Revolution Have Record-Setting Weekend In Chicago!
June 2011, Chicago IL: The Philadelphia Revolution lived up to their name in Chicago's Pride Bowl this month, toppling records while winning the first two awards in their short history at the tournament level. The team won fourth place in the "B" Bracket Division, their highest placement ever - earning them a trophy - while Nick Kirkstadt took home the individual honor of Defensive MVP.
Gay Bowl X: Revolution Gets Revenge in Phoenix
October 2010, Phoenix AZ: The Philadelphia Revolution competed in the National Gay Flag Football League’s Gay Bowl X during the weekend of October 8-10 in Phoenix, AZ.
Gay Bowl X was the largest tournament ever with 26 teams from across the country competing for the championship in the desert and the tournament opened up with an incredible welcoming party which began with a new “Parade of Teams.” Each team was announced as a member walked across the stage with a huge banner displaying the team logo. Team captains Morgan Sampson and Dre Dionne selected Revolution rookie Brian Brittingham to represent Philadelphia and carry the banner. Also that evening, the participants were informed that a documentary on gay flag football would be filmed the entire weekend. One of the teams being documented was the Revolution’s Saturday morning opponent, San Diego. As a result, the game vs. San Diego was filmed by the movie crew and some of the Revolution players may be seen in the movie. Details on the upcoming movie can be found at www.flagfootballthemovie.com
Due to a rash of injuries and the distance of the tournament, the Revolution roster was reduced to12 people from its original list of 18. Nonetheless, the team fought hard and played well against some flag football powerhouses throughout the weekend. Seeded #25 based on prior tournament standings and votes from the other member cities, The Revolution faced #11 seeded New York X-Treme and #15 ranked Phoenix Hellraisers II on Friday. On Saturday morning, the team struggled with #2 seeded San Diego before heading into B bracket competition later that afternoon.
When the B bracket schedule was announced, the team was happy to learn they would play B bracket rival and #24 seed San Antonio in an attempt to revenge a heart-breaker loss in last year’s Gay Bowl IX. Most of the returning players remember the stunning loss to 21-20 loss to San Antonio after leading most of the game. On the final play of the game, a San Antonio receiver found the end-zone and knocked Philly out of B bracket competition early.
In Phoenix, however, the team played one of its best competitive games ever. Taking an early lead and never looking back, the Revolution soundly defeated the Diablos 33-6 late Saturday afternoon. Gary Isaacs, one of the team captains, stated that the team played with a determination and motivation as if “every play was the last play of the game last year” in an attempt to redeem that loss.
With a B bracket win in their hands, the team had the chance to advance in the bracket – a first for the Revolution – and got the opportunity to play 2010 Chicago Pride Bowl B champions and #18 seed Denver Saturday night. With the harsh sun setting behind the mountains and desert heat fading, the team played a hard fought game under the “Saturday Night Lights.” Despite the loss, the team was happy to advance and face a new NGFFL opponent.
With the loss to Denver on Saturday night, the Revolution got the opportunity to play cross-state rival and #23 seed Pittsburgh in what was quickly billed as the “Battle for the Keystone State.” With energy levels running low early Sunday morning after 5 games in the desert heat, the team eventually lost to Pittsburgh in what will surely become a hotly contested rivalry moving forward.
The tournament ended with an incredible closing party at the swank W Hotel in Scottsdale, AZ where the Los Angeles Motion were crowned NGFFL Gay Bowl X champions after having defeated the New York Warriors earlier in the day.

Pride Bowl III, Chicago
June 2010, Chicago IL: The Philadelphia Revolution recently returned from Pride Bowl 3 in Chicago held over Pride weekend (June 26-27) where the team finished 5th in the B Division and 13th overall out of 16 teams that participated - the Revolution's best showing in the year that we have been playing in National competition.
The Revolution drew a tough group for pool play, suffering setbacks in contests against the Chicago Unity, New York, and Atlanta Flames teams. During Divisional play on Saturday, the team narrowly lost to the Cleveland Rockers but bounced back to defeat the Atlanta Flames 27-6 in the playoff for 5th place in the B Division. The team showed marked improvement between Day 1 and Day 2, downing an Atlanta team that had beat them the previous day.

Gay Bowl IX, Washington DC
October 2009, Washington D.C.: The Philadelphia Revolution sent a team to our first ever Gay Bowl, Gay Bowl IX, played over Columbus Day weekend 2009 in Washington, DC. The team compiled a 1-4 record, losing to the eventual tournament winners, the Los Angeles Motion, and the Houston Hurricanes on Friday. After coming short against the Atlanta Storm on Saturday morning, the Revolution suffered a heartbreaking 21-20 loss on the final play of the game to the San Antonio Diablos on Saturday afternoon.
The team regrouped to finish off the tournament on a high note, defeating the Texas Bullcats 32-0 on Sunday morning - recording our first defensive shut out highlighted by two interceptions. The team also scored the most points in a game ever, beating out the 28 points scored against the Atlanta Woofs in the Chicago Pride Bowl earlier in 2009.
