The GPFFL plays under the set of rules that govern the annual Gay Bowl. Most of these rules are identical to college football rules (e.g., one foot in). However, there are many other rules (e.g., one run per possession) that make these rules unique. The rules can be found on the NGFFL website here.

On the defensive side of the ball, most times the zone defense is the most effective - here is a link to description of the scheme and how each player contributes to the defense. In some situations, when the offense is in the red zone and the field is compressed, a man-to-man defense can be used effectively. Here is a link to the description of this scheme.
